Artist: Tom J. Change

Piano-playing is a way to recover from physical exercise for me. At the moment, it is the only instrument with which I sit. Sitting without making music brings me in a low mood soon. Music has become the ultimate medication in my case. There are a few tricks already that let me play normally if there are no big troubles. On the piano, modulations came out of excitement. Perhaps, it is too regular, too boring. Combining chromatic chords with chromatic melodies is much better. One can say that I change between chords and melodies. It’s as if I carve through the keys of the keyboard of the piano. And so, I play a bit until I gained enough strength for other instruments that are then played by moving this or that way.

The name “Tom J. Change” is a pseudonym that was in my head in 2006 already, and it comes from changing into another key with every next chord, on the piano. For years, it was my main technique, but it lost its power, so that a mood cannot be built up anymore. But in respect of switching between a couple of instruments, the artist name is still relevant. And also, there seems to grow interest in influencing people who are obviously caught in a bad way of living their lives. For sure, it’s only a particular phase in my life, and later I can play with modulations again.
